Biography
The Éole Duo was born in Québec City in 2014… on a dance floor! And from the very first turns around the floor, Marie-Hélène, an organist, and Frédéric, a trumpeter, felt the desire to play together (with the approval of their respective spouses). The project would take five years to come to life, and they performed their first concert together at Saint François-Xavier Cathedral in Chicoutimi on July 23, 2019. As comfortable playing as they are speaking, the Éole Duo strives to stay close to its audience by offering enthusiastically narrated concerts and a varied program drawn from many styles—from the great classics of music to contemporary works, including film music. Passionate about arranging and transcribing, Marie-Hélène and Frédéric carry on the art and tradition of transcription, as composers such as Bach, Liszt, or Gould once did. The two artists enjoy adapting their favorite pieces for trumpet and organ or for organ solo (so the trumpeter can rest from time to time…) to enrich their concerts.
