BIOGRAPHIES
Elisabeth Pion, piano
A curious and innovative artist, pianist Élisabeth Pion has distinguished herself as a soloist, chamber musician and artistic collaborator on the Canadian and international cultural scene. The pianist is currently being mentored by pianist Gabriela Montero, and previously completed her studies at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she was awarded the Artist Masters in 2020, the Artist Diploma in 2022, and finally the Junior Fellowship in 2023, under the direction of Ronan O’Hora. In 2018, Élisabeth was named one of CBC’s 30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30 and made the short list of the 15 Rising Stars of 2018, presented by La Scena Musicale. Since then, she has appeared in recital in several major venues, including her debut at London’s Wigmore Hall in 2021 and a performance at New York’s Weill Recital Hall in 2022. Élisabeth Pion has also performed as soloist with the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Victoria Symphony, the Brazilian Symphony, the Orchestre classique de Montréal and the Toledo Symphony. In 2022, the pianist was awarded the Choquette-Symcox prize by Jeunesses Musicales Canada. In May 2023, Élisabeth Pion released her first album, Femmes de légende, on the ATMA Classique label. Her second album, Amadeus et l’Impératrice, a collaboration with Arion Orchestre Baroque and Mathieu Lussier, will be released in June 2024.
