Biography
Marc-André Marquis was born in 1990 in Lévis. He began his musical career by learning the piano in private lessons, at the age of 15. Trained at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy in organ and harpsichord with Pierre Bouchard, Marc-André Marquis has a bachelor’s degree in musical interpretation, in the organ class of Richard Paré, with whom he also pursued studies in harpsichord and Chamber music. In the fall of 2022, he will continue his master’s studies in interpretation, still in the class of Richard Paré. It should be noted that he is also a scholarship holder on many occasions from this Faculty of Music, in relation to his involvement in the maintenance of the organs, and is also a scholarship holder of the Relève Musicale de Québec. In the summer of 2019, he was also able to benefit from the advice of Dom André Laberge, at the Abbey of Saint-Benoît-du-Lac, in order to perfect his Baccalaureate entrance audition program. Active as a concert performer and accompanist, since November 2021 he has held the large Casavant organs of the Saint-Mathieu church, as well as the Providence organ of the Sainte-Geneviève church in the Parish of Notre-Dame-de- Faith. Since December 2021, he has also been co-organist of the Sainte-Ursule church of this same parish. He is also one of the assistant organists of the organ holder of the Basilique-cathédrale Notre-Dame de Québec. He was previously organist of the Parish of Notre-Dame-de-l’Annonciation in L’Ancienne-Lorette.
