Tolomeo’s sister Cleopatra seeks to depose her brother and become sole ruler of Egypt. She joins Cornelia and Sesto’s plan and asks Cesare for help. Seduced by her charms, Cesare falls in love with Cleopatra. Her brother attempts to assassinate him, but Cesare escapes. Cleopatra learns he has drowned. She is captured. After being rejected by Cornelia, Tolomeo sings of his jealous fury at the rejection of his amorous desires.
