Biographies
Maéva Girard
Maéva Girard is a young Quebec lyric soprano renowned for her impressive vocal mastery and undeniable musicality. Driven by a deep passion for music, she is currently pursuing advanced studies with soprano Donna Brown. Trained at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, she has performed a number of interesting roles, including the First Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Miss Todd in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief. Her performance in the latter role earned her praise from the Revue l’Opéra, which highlighted her vocal excellence and dramatic effectiveness. Alongside her academic apprenticeship, Maéva is a prizewinner in prestigious competitions such as Classival and the Concours de Musique de Sorel, accolades that testify to her talent and potential. Her career has been nurtured by exceptional opportunities to learn from renowned artists. She took part in the Orford Music Academy in 2023 and the Lachine International Vocal Academy in 2024, where she perfected her art alongside such influential figures as Philip Sly, Benjamin Butterfield, Liz Upchurch, Richard Turp, Olivier Godin, Wolfgang Holzmair, François LeRoux et Anna-Maria Popescu.
Tony Stauffer
Tony Stauffer is a French-born rehearsal pianist and opera accompanist. Born in Bayonne, he began studying piano at the age of seven at the Bayonne Regional Conservatory, where he obtained his Diploma in Musical Studies (DEM) with honours. He holds a doctorate from the University of Montreal, where he studied with Francis Perron and Liz Upchurch. Tony participated in the Lachine International Vocal Academy in 2022. In 2023, Tony joined the UdeM-McGill residency programme in piano/vocal arts. In 2024 and 2025, he participated in the Lehrer Vocal Institute at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, as a pianist, working on productions of Carmen, L’Enfant et les sortilèges and Don Giovanni. He also trained in German lied interpretation at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria. This season, Tony is, among other things, assistant pianist for Jenůfa and Carmen at the Opéra de Montréal.
