Biography
Originally from Mulhouse, Quentin Guérillot studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris under renowned masters such as Michel Bouvard and Olivier Latry for organ, Olivier Baumont for harpsichord, Thierry Escaich and Pierre Pincemaille for composition and improvisation, and was awarded seven first prizes. A student of Vincent Warnier, he also attended numerous masterclasses with Louis Robillard, Daniel Roth, Bernhard Haas, Andreas Staier, and Christophe Rousset, and worked on the Italian organ repertoire with the celebrated organist and musicologist Andrea Macinanti.
In May 2018, at just 25 years old, he won the competition to become the titular organist of the grand Cavaillé-Coll organ at the Cathedral-Basilica of Saint-Denis, succeeding his mentor Pierre Pincemaille. Since then, he has served as artistic director of the Cathedral’s organ concert season and regularly performs as a soloist at the Saint-Denis Festival, notably with Khrystyna Sarksyan and David Guerrier. He frequently performs under the baton of prestigious conductors such as Matthias Pintscher, Marko Letonja, and Jukka-Pekka Saraste, at venues including the Philharmonie de Paris and the ancient theatre of Orange. Passionate about historical instruments, Quentin Guérillot is an active member of the association “La Nouvelle Athènes – Center for Romantic Pianos” in Paris, and conducts musicological research on pianoforte improvisation and the piano repertoire of organist-composers.
A graduate of Leonardo García Alarcón’s “maestro al cembalo” class at the Geneva HEM, he also works as a harpsichordist and vocal coach, supporting singers at the Aix-en-Provence Festival Academy in June 2022. In 2024, he founded the early music ensemble “O Tempora” with violinist Laure Massoni, which he directs from the harpsichord. Together, they will record a CD dedicated to 17th-century Roman music at La Cité Bleue in Geneva in September 2025. A recognized concert artist across Europe, his CD “L’orgue chambriste, du salon à la salle de concert” on the Initiale label has received unanimous acclaim from specialized critics (Choc de Classica).
