BIOGRAPHIES
Stéphane Tétreault, cello
Recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, Stéphane Tétreault began his career at a very young age, which quickly expanded internationally. Under the baton of Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin, he performs regularly with the Orchestre Métropolitain and made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2016. During the 2017–2018 season, he took part in the Orchestre Métropolitain’s first European tour and made his debut with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has released eight recordings that have received critical acclaim, including Album of the Year at the 2023 Opus Awards for Transfiguration. Winner of the 2019 Virginia Parker Prize and the 2022 Opus Award for Performer of the Year, Stéphane plays the 1707 “Comtesse de Stainlein, Ex-Paganini” Stradivarius cello, generously loaned to him by Madame Sophie Desmarais.
Marie Bégin, violon
Named by the CBC as one of Canada’s 30 most promising young musicians of 2020, violinist Marie Bégin has performed across North America, Europe, the UK and China. She has appeared as soloist with Les Violons du Roy, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the Orchestre symphonique de Québec. She is concertmaster of Les Violons du Roy, Quatuor Saguenay, and the Orchestre Symphonique du Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean. A seasoned chamber musician, she collaborates with Charles Richard-Hamelin, Andrew Wan, and Stéphane Tétreault. With pianist Samuel Blanchette-Gagnon, she recorded an album for Atma Classique. A graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, she furthered her studies in Europe with Zakhar Bron, Maxim Vengerov and Christian Tetzlaff. A 2021 Shanghai Stern Competition semi-finalist and international prize winner, she plays a 1710–1715 Carlo Bergonzi violin on loan from CANIMEX INC.
Chloé Dumoulin, piano
Pianist Chloé Dumoulin made her debut in 2021 at the Maison symphonique de Montréal, under the direction of Jacques Lacombe – and appeared as soloist with the Orchestre Orchestre Métropolitain in 2016. Active on the provincial, national, and international scenes, Chloé has performed in Canada, the United States, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, and the United Kingdom, and will soon be touring China. Winner of the Third Grand Prize at the Prix d’Europe Competition and the Hélène Lessard Special Prize, Chloé was also awarded the Canimex Grand Prize at the Festival-Concours de Sherbrooke in 2021, First Prize at the Canadian Music Competition and Second Grand Prize at the CFMTA’s National Piano Competition. Recently awarded a prize from the Sylva Gelber Foundation, she is also supported by the Fondation du Conservatoire, the Fondation Desjardins, the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada AIDA Fund, the London Goodenough Association of Canada, and the Worshipful Glass Sellers Company. She was selected to take part in the prestigious Maria Canals International Competition in Barcelona. Chloé trained at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where in 2023, she completed a double master’s degree – in piano with André Laplante and in accompaniment with Claire Ouellet. At the same institution in 2022, she also won a chamber music prize, obtained with distinction. During her training, she has performed in many masterclasses, most notably with Louis Lortie, Richard Goode, Gabriela Montero, Robert Levin, Dame Imogen Cooper, Éric Le Sage, Ilya Poletaev, Anton Nel, Angela Cheng, and Daniel Shapiro. Since September 2023, Chloé has been studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (UK), where she is the recipient of the Leverhulme Arts Scholar full scholarship to complete an Artist Diploma, under the tutelage of Ronan O’Hora.
Claire Ouellet, piano
A native of Chicoutimi, pianist Claire Ouellet enjoys a brilliant career on the Canadian stage as well as abroad. She is highly regarded as a chamber musician and appears regularly at such festivals and concert series, as Pro Musica, the Lanaudière Festival, Domaine Forget, Parry Sound, the Montreal Chamber Music Festival, Orgue et couleurs and Maison Trestler, as well as being heard frequently on Radio Canada. A soloist with many orchestras throughout Canada, she has also been invited to play in Spain with the Grenada Symphony Orchestra and appears often in recital in France, Switzerland, Germany and Czechoslovakia. A member of the piano Ouellet-Murray Duo, Claire Ouellet has made two recordings highly acclaimed by critics here and abroad. The Duo toured across Canada during as part of the Jeunesses musicales du Canada and a ‘Jouer dans l’ile’ tour, presented by the Montreal Arts Council. Claire Oeullet graduated from the class of Carlos Feliciati at the Conservatoire de musique de Chicoutimi with a stunning First Prize awarded unanimously. She continued her studies in Paris with support from the French government and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Quebec. A winner of numerous awards, in 1994 she received her PhD in interpretation from the University of Montreal. In 1995, she was appointed accompaniment professor at the Montreal Music Conservatory, specializing in violin and cello repertories. She has participated in masterclasses with musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Igor Oistrakh, Augustin Dumay, Gil Saham, Vladimir Spivakov and Janos Starker. In high demand for her extensive experience, she is invited each summer to the Camp musical des Laurentides and the Orford Arts Centre, as well as the Jeunesses Musicales Montreal International Competition.
