Biographies:
Following a recommendation from COVIQ, two students from École secondaire Dalbé-Viau, David and Simon, enrolled in an introductory guitar course offered by Concerts Lachine at the Saul Bellow Library. The 10-week course is taught by guitarist and professor Patrick Kearney, who runs his own studio in Lachine and teaches at both Concordia and McGill universities. David and Simon enjoyed the course so much that they inquired about a second-level class. Although none was available at the time, they decided to retake the introductory course to solidify their skills. This year, they are continuing their musical journey in a pilot project called Guitar Focus Group under Patrick Kearney’s guidance. Today’s presentation is the fruit of their dedicated studies.

Rap solist : LilTY

Program

4SIS Tihanna Yaxley (lyrics), Jerimiah (music)
So High Tihanna Yaxley (lyrics), Jerimiah (music)

Biography:
LilTY has been writing music since she was 11 years old. Reflecting on her first song, written during the post-COVID period, she admits it wasn’t her best work. During the summer, she joined the artist residency program Projet W.O.R.D., which significantly enhanced her songwriting skills. The program helped her find better words, craft a “top line” or melody, and improve song structure. Moreover, it provided her with insights into breaking into the music industry and conducting interviews. COVIQ provides her with microphones and amplifiers, and most importantly, offers her a space to sing and perform.
Now, LilTY has written six songs, enough for her first EP. Some of her music is already available online through DistroKid, Spotify, and YouTube. Her thought-provoking lyrics beautifully showcase her empathy and deep understanding of others. The first song, “4SIS,” was written to support her sister during a challenging time. The second song, “So High,” describes feelings of elation, focusing on her joyful experiences with a friend rather than a drug-induced high. She is thrilled to perform two of her songs for the first time in such a large and beautiful venue.
