BIOGRAPHY
OLIVIER GODIN
Appointed Artistic Director of Salle Bourgie at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in June 2022, Olivier Godin leads a brilliant career as a concert artist, chamber musician and teacher in Canada and abroad. In recital, he has collaborated with numerous opera artists such as Frédéric Antoun, Pascale Beaudin, Marc Boucher, Julie Boulianne, Gordon Bintner, Russell Braun, Donna Brown, Thomas Dolié, Étienne Dupuis, Antonio Figueroa, Julie Fuchs, Karina Gauvin, Hélène Guilmette, Wolfgang Holzmair, Laurence Kilsby, Aline Kutan, Dominique Labelle, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, François Le Roux, Michèle Losier, Sylvia Schwartz, Philippe Sly and many others. As a chamber musician, he has performed with pianists Michel Béroff, Suzanne Blondin, Myriam Farid and François Zeitouni, cellist Stéphane Tétreault and oboist Louise Pellerin. He has performed at numerous Canadian festivals (Lanaudière, Domaine Forget, Orford, Parry Sound, Sainte-Pétronille, La Virée classique de l’OSM, Classica) and abroad (Palazzetto Bru-Zane in Venice, Wigmore Hall in London, Mexico Lieder Fest in Monterrey, Académie Francis Poulenc in Tours, Festival Albert Roussel in Lille, Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing, Johannes-Wasmuth Gesellschaft in Bonn, La Monnaie in Brussels, Opéra de Lille, Opéra de Montpellier, Source Song Festival in Minneapolis). As a répétiteur, he has prepared numerous opera productions and concerts under such renowned conductors as Raffi Armenian, Franz-Paul Decker, Charles Dutoit, Agnès Grossman, Jacques Lacombe, Simon Leclerc, Kent Nagano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Jean-Marie Zeitouni. He has worked with directors Alain Gauthier, Jean Herbiet, Titus Holweg, Albert Millaire, Klaus Ortner, Lorraine Pintal, François Racine and Oriol Tomás. For more than 15 years, he has performed in concert with the singer Diane Dufresne, and recently presented a tour of voice and piano concerts with her in Quebec. Olivier Godin has recorded more than thirty discs to international critical acclaim, including complete songs by Poulenc, Fauré, Duparc and Dutilleux, a disc of songs and works for piano by Jolivet, the complete works for two pianos by Rachmaninov, the Liebeslieder Walzer by Brahms, lieder by Schubert, and a solo disc of works for piano by Émile Pessard (world premiere). He recently recorded the complete 333 mélodies by Jules Massenet (including several previously unpublished works) for ATMA Classique with a dozen renowned singers. He has given master classes for singers and pianists in Canada, the United States, Mexico, France and Sweden. Appointed professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal at the age of 25, Olivier Godin was in charge of the institution’s Opera Workshop for nearly 15 years and taught there for 20 years. He also worked at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music as a Master Coach and teacher of French lyric diction. He participates in numerous summer academies as a vocal coach and vocal accompaniment teacher for pianists. In 2017, he co-founded the Académie Vocale Internationale de Lachine with his colleague Richard Turp. Since 2024, he has also been a professor at the Académie Francis Poulenc, the international centre for French mélodie in Tours (France). Olivier Godin received the Prize with Great Distinction in piano and chamber music from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he studied interpretation with the renowned Raoul Sosa.
MYRIAM FARID
Born to Egyptian parents in Kinshasa, Myriam Farid emigrated to Québec at a young age, and commenced her musical studies at the Conservatoire du Québec à Val-d’Or. After further studies in Paris, she graduated with a master’s degree in Montréal with Prof. Raoul Sosa in interpretation and chamber music. Myriam performed with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Montréal Conservatory Orchestra and l’Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières and enjoyed the honour of playing at the Lugano Festival in 2010 by invitation of the legendary pianist, Martha Argerich. A renowned soloist and chamber musician, she is particularly associated with the extraordinary repertoire for two pianos and piano four hands. Myriam has a long- standing relationship with piano partner Olivier Godin from Montréal. Together, they have recorded Rachmaninov’s entire work for two pianos as well as the Liebeslieder Walzer Op. 52 and Op. 62 by Johannes Brahms and the Walzer für Pianoforte zu vier Händen Op. 39 for ATMA Classique. Myriam taught at the Barenboim-Said Akademie and toured with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Barenboim and with soloist Martha Argerich in Buenos Aires and throughout Europe. Together with actress Isabel Karajan and Olivier Godin, Myriam performed at the Hans- Arp Museum in Rolandseck presenting “Fräulein Tod trifft Schostakowitsch” as well as participating at the 12th Rolandseck festival under artistic director Mihaela Martin together with piano partner Itamar Golan. Myriam performed the Paganini variations in the version for two pianos by Witold Lutowsławski at the gala concert with Martha
Argerich in Bonn.
