Biography

Lysiane Boulva, organ

Passionate about music from an early age, Lysiane Boulva performs on both organ and harpsichord for concerts organized by, among others, the Festival Versailles au Son des Orgues, Palais Montcalm, Concerts Lachine, the Musée de la Civilisation, and Les Amis de l’orgue de Québec. She also collaborates with ensembles such as the Orchestre national de France, Les Violons du Roy, the Royal 22nd Regiment Band, and the Côte-Nord Symphony Orchestra, performing under the direction of Bertrand de Billy, Fabio Bonizzoni, Jonathan Cohen, Bernard Labadie, Jeanne Lamon, and Ivars Taurins, among others.

In Québec, she worked with L’Orchestre d’Hommes-Orchestres on their acclaimed production Tomates and contributed for several years to the organization of the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto. A finalist at the 2024 Pierre de Manchicourt International Organ Competition in Béthune, she has been the organist at Sainte-Jeanne d’Arc Church in Versailles since September 2024, where she also teaches organ. Starting in September 2025, she will be a professor of the newly established organ program at the École de musique de Voisins. Lysiane holds an advanced organ diploma from the Conservatoire de Versailles, where she studied with Jean-Baptiste Robin. She also earned a master’s degree in organ performance from Université Laval (Québec) and a Master of Arts in harpsichord and early music performance from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Netherlands). She completed a doctorate in harpsichord performance at the University of Toronto, during which she focused on composer Jacques Duphly and mid-18th-century French harpsichord music.

A recipient of numerous grants and scholarships, she studied with Josée April, Patrick Ayrton, Fabio Bonizzoni, Vincent Dubois, Martin Gester, Kenneth Gilbert, Olivier Houette, Ton Koopman, Charlotte Nediger, and Richard Paré. In recent years, she has performed in France on the organs of the Royal Chapel of Versailles, the churches of Sainte-Jeanne d’Arc and Notre-Dame-des-Armées (Versailles), the Basilica of Saint- Quentin, the cathedrals of Moulins and Poitiers, and Saint-Vaast Church (Béthune); and in Québec at the organs of Palais Montcalm, Saints-Anges Church in Lachine, the Cathedral of Nicolet, Notre-Dame-du-Cap Shrine, the church in Cap-Santé, and at the St-Roch Organ Festival. She can also be heard this summer at the organ of St-Pierre-de-Cabochon Church in Blois.
