Élisabeth Pion, piano

A curious and innovative artist, pianist Élisabeth Pion has distinguished herself as a  soloist, chamber musician and artistic collaborator on the Canadian and  international cultural scene. The pianist is currently being mentored by pianist  Gabriela Montero, and previously completed her studies at London’s Guildhall  School of Music & Drama, where she was awarded the Artist Masters in 2020, the  Artist Diploma in 2022, and finally the Junior Fellowship in 2023, under the direction  of Ronan O’Hora. In 2018, Élisabeth was named one of CBC’s 30 hot Canadian  classical musicians under 30 and made the short list of the 15 Rising Stars of 2018,  presented by La Scena Musicale. Since then, she has appeared in recital in several  major venues, including her debut at London’s Wigmore Hall in 2021 and a  performance at New York’s Weill Recital Hall in 2022.  Élisabeth Pion has also performed as soloist with the Orchestre Métropolitain, the

Victoria Symphony, the Brazilian Symphony, the Orchestre classique de Montréal  and the Toledo Symphony. In 2022, the pianist was awarded the Choquette-Symcox  prize by Jeunesses Musicales Canada. In May 2023, Élisabeth Pion released her first  album, Femmes de légende, on the ATMA Classique label. Her second album,  Amadeus et l’Impératrice, a collaboration with Arion Orchestre Baroque and  Mathieu Lussier, was released in June 2024.  In October 2025, Élisabeth Pion won First Prize at the prestigious Honens  International Piano Competition in Calgary. In addition to the prize money of  $100,000 and access to the Honens Artist Development Programme, valued at an  estimated $500,000, Élisabeth Pion won the Audience Prize worth $5,000.

Matthias Maute

Matthias Maute has established a solid national and international reputation as a  conductor, choral conductor and composer, and as one of the finest performers of his  generation on both recorder and flute. In recent years, Mr Maute has devoted much of  his time to conducting choirs and orchestras, notably with Ensemble Caprice (which he  co-founded with his wife, Sophie Larivière). Matthias’ compositions occupy an important  place in the world of contemporary recorder music, and his discography includes more  than twenty remarkable recordings. He also teaches at the Université de Montréal and  McGill University in Montreal. Matthias Maute, who won a Juno Award for his recording  with choir of Vivaldi and his Angels, has earned an enviable reputation for the  excellence of his work as artistic director of Ensemble Caprice, the Bach Society of  Minnesota in the United States, and the Noncerto Concerts series, as well as co-artistic  director of the Montreal Baroque Festival.
