Mélanie Barney

Balancing a dual career as a concert organist and licensed practical nurse, Mélanie Barney is an artist of great sensitivity with a strong affinity for the symphonic organ repertoire. A passionate colorist and devoted arranger, she brings a fresh, accessible voice to the organ.

A graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where she earned a First Prize with highest distinction in organ performance, she has received numerous scholarships and awards. President of the Amis de l’orgue de Montréal from 2017 to 2020, she maintains an active concert career in Canada and abroad. Nominated at the ADISQ Awards in 2010 with the Buzz Brass ensemble, she released her first solo album, The Power of the Organ 2, in 2012 to strong critical acclaim. From 2012 to 2025, she served as organist at the Casavant organ of Saint-Jérôme Cathedral, where she recorded Après un rêve (2015). Deeply committed to her community, she also directed the Laurentians Chamber Music Festival.

Frequently invited to collaborate with choirs and orchestras, she has performed as a soloist across Europe, China, and the United States.
