Recently awarded 2nd Prize at the 111th edition of the Prix d’Europe and named one of the 30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30 2023 by CBC Music, Zhan Hong Xiao discovered music at his primary school, the Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal, at the age of nine. He holds a master’s degree with distinction from the Conservatoire de Montréal, where he has studied since 2014 in Richard Raymond’s class.

His first successes date back to 2015, when he was selected to represent Quebec at the CFMTA National Piano Competition, where he won 2nd Prize as well as two other special prizes. In 2017, he won the Grand Prize in the Virtuose programme broadcast on Radio-Canada, and in 2018, 3rd Prize in the OSM Competition.

As a soloist, he has performed with the Sinfonia de Lanaudière at the Festival International de Lanaudière, the Orchestre Métropolitain at the Maison Symphonique and the Orchestre Classique de Montréal at Salle Bourgie.
