Biography
Founded in 2015 by the renowned clarinettist and conductor André Moisan, the InSpirations ensemble offers an unparalleled musical experience, featuring a unique sound and fresh interpretations that seamlessly blend classical, jazz, world music and contemporary musical techniques. A musical kaleidoscope with the backdrop of traditions from many times and many places, InSpirations brings together five diverse, passionate virtuosos deeply dedicated to their art. The ensemble creates an unforgettable sound, subtly bringing together acoustic instruments around the organ, offering a palette of infinitely varied colors. At the heart of Impressions, the organ becomes a unifying and versatile instrument, capable of unusual sound textures in synergy with the quartet’s contributions. The immense variety of organ timbres provides an ideal canvas for the improvisations of saxophones, clarinets, trombone, percussion, and double bass. Impressions is the culmination of stylistic explorations undertaken by each group member – explorations which converge to create transcendent performances of original compositions and adaptations of the repertoire.
Bearing witness to an era of rich cultural convergences and artistic crossovers, the Inspirations ensemble strives to be an ambassador for diverse musical traditions interpreted through a modern lens. After winning public and critical acclaim in several Canadian and American cities, the group continues building momentum with performances on the international scene.
