Come hear these artists performing works by Schubert and Poulenc, etc.
Two young performers of remarkable talent and potential who study at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, soprano Aneska Diament and pianist Chloé Dumoulin, participated in the latest edition of the Lachine International Vocal Academy in June 2022. Chloé Dumoulin was awarded the Jeanne Landry Bursary at the end of the course, while soprano Aneska Diament shared the André Turp Bursary.
Biography
Aneska Diament, soprano
Aneska Diament is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in opera performance at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal under the tutelage of Aline Kutan. Her musical journey began at the age of 6, first in piano and then in singing. She completed her college diploma in opera singing with Renée Lapointe at the Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau.
The young soprano performed in the premiere of Requiem pour Empédocle by the composer Geneviève Ackerman that was presented at the Maison symphonique de Montréal in February 2022. She performed the role of The Wife in the opera The Juniper Tree by Philip Glass and Robert Moran, the following month under the direction of Jacques Lacombe at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. She will perform the title role of Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, a production to be staged in February 2023 at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. She has participated in master classes with Nathalie Paulin and Hervé Niquet. Aneska Diament also participated in the Académie internationale vocale de Lachine and the Académie du Domaine Forget de Charlevoix. She has worked with François Le Roux, Wolfgang Holzmair, Liz Upchurch, Lena Hellström-Färnlöf, Richard Turp and Karina Gauvin.
Chloé Dumoulin, pianist
Chloé Dumoulin is a Master’s student at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, studying piano with André Laplante and accompaniment with Claire Ouellet. Chloé Dumoulin performed as a soloist with the Orchestre Métropolitain the tender age of 16 and won the Grand Prize of the Crescendo International Competition, which allowed her to play at the legendary Carnegie Hall. She made her solo debut at the Maison Symphonique with the Orchestre du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, conducted by Jacques Lacombe in 2021. She has also performed with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Orchestre symphonique de Laval and the Orchestre symphonique de Longueil.
Grand winner of the piano category at the Prix d’Europe competition in 2021, the 21-year-old pianist also won the Third Grand Prix Québécor and the Hélène Lessard Special Prize. She is the winner of the 2021 Canimex Grand Prize of the Festival-concours de musique de Sherbrooke (FCMS), as well as the winner of numerous prizes including the concerto categories of the FCMS and the Festival-concours de Sorel-Tracy, 3rd prize of the Grand Finale of the Festival-concours de Sorel-Tracy, 2nd Grand Prize of the National Piano Competition of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers and 1st prize at the Canadian Music Competition, solo piano and chamber music. Chloé has perfected her skills in master classes with pianists Angela Cheng, André Laplante, Anton Nel, Louis Lortie, Angela Cheng, Jimmy Brière, Jean-François Latour, Sara Davis Buechner and the Gryphon Trio. She also studied with the celebrated pianist Louis Lortie in Italy during the summer of 2022. Since 2018, she is the accompanist of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal’s choir as well as the pianist of the OSCM. The young pianist has been invited by the Montreal Chamber Music Festival with her emerging ensemble the Vatra Quartet, for the ECN+ Generation Plus concert, at the Festival Classica, at the Unison: Velocity and Virtuosity Festival at Orford Musique, and for the Jeunesses Musicales, Canada’s regional series.
Chloé also participated in the Lachine International Vocal Academy in 2021 and 2022 when she was awarded the Jeanne Landry bursary. She is grateful for the support of the Conservatory Foundation, which awarded her the prestigious Monique-Barry Scholarship, and of the Fondation Desjardins.
